Tangerine is a citrus fruit that is known as Citrus Reticulata in botanical language. The plant of this fruit belongs to the Rutaceae family in the plant kingdom. The skin of the fruit is reddish-orange in colour. Tangerine essential oil is obtained after cold pressing the peels of the tangerine. The oil has an intense, pure, and citrusy scent. Known for its antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, it is a well-known element in aromatherapy and skin care solutions. Benefits of Tangerine Essential Oil: The strong antioxidant and antibacterial qualities contained in the phytochemicals of Tangerine oil help to remove any bacteria on the surface of your skin. This bacteria often worsens your acne or causes further inflammation and redness.  Tangerine oil helps clean and treat a minor wound. Its high folate content helps to stimulate tissue growth. This enables your wound to heal faster while keeping it free of infection.  Tangerine oil also acts as a natural skin toner and helps reduce excess sebum oil, one of the causes of blemishes on our face. Sebum generally tends to block up our pores, along with the dead skin cells that we shed on a daily basis. By using Tangerine Oil, you can actively reduce the amount of blemishes and improve your complexion over time. Never put undiluted essential oil on your skin! For topical use, add 12 drops of Tangerine essential oil to 30ml of Oleia Pure Oil (2% dilution), or 18 drops of essential oil to 30ml of Oleia Pure Oil (3% dilution). You can also use readily available Oleia Oil Tangerine (2% dilution). Tangerine Oil has cytophylactic properties and aids in restoring damaged tissues in the body. It helps reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks.   Massage Blend for Stretch Marks and Cellulite: Add 2 drops of Tangerine essential oil with 2 drops of Lavender oil to 10ml of Oleia Pure Oil or other carrier oil. Apply Oil blend on affected area 3x a day or use for light massage.  Tangerine essential oil, along with most other citrus oils is a fantastic hair treatment. Thanks to the high vitamin C, vitamin B,  potassium and magnesium content that is found within the oil. These vitamins and minerals are essential for maintaining good hair health and nourishing strong follicles. The oil also penetrates deeply into your scalp, allowing the follicles to be nourished from within. It’s great for conditioning and moisturizing the hair, as well as stimulating hair growth.  The oil stimulates hair growth by unclogging the pores in your scalp and stimulating the blood circulation. This means that more nutrients are able to reach the hair follicles. The d-limonene found in the oil also helps to prevent the buildup of a chemical known as 5 alpha-reductase. This chemical occurs commonly in men. The chemical blocks the pores of your scalp and stops the flow of nutrients and minerals from reaching your hair. This can lead to breakages (weaker hair) and eventually hair loss. If you are into Yoga practice, try this Yoga Mat Cleansing Spray: Add 10 drops Tangerine Oil, 10 drops Lavender Oil, 5 drops Peppermint Oil, ¼ cup distilled water into a Spray bottle. Shake well before each use. Contraindications We do not recommend the ingestion of essential oils. Pregnant and nursing women must seek the advice of a health care practitioner before using essential oils. Those taking prescription drugs are also advised to seek medical consultation prior to use.
